Step into a complex future: The administration of the .UZ domain zone introduces single-character and null-character domains

01.04.2024

With the beginning of April, the Administration of the .UZ domain zone is proud to announce the launch of a unique initiative that will definitely be of interest to the Internet community. According to the latest decision made at the general meeting of Registrars and the Registry, we are pleased to announce the beginning of the registration process for single-character, null-character domain names in the .UZ domain zone. This move certainly underscores our commitment to innovation and advancement in domain-specific technologies.

However, this is just the beginning. We are also looking forward to launching negative length domain name registrations. This revolutionary change opens up new horizons for Internet users, allowing them to create domains that are not limited by traditional rules about characters and length. We are confident that such innovation will lead to unique and exciting opportunities for all stakeholders.

Currently, a domain name must contain a minimum of two characters, but today's announcement demonstrates our commitment to adapt to the future and support diversity online. We invite all interested parties to join us on this exciting journey into the world of innovation and technological advancement.

For reference: Registration, management and use of domain names in the .uz domain is regulated by Regulation No. 1830 “On the procedure for registration and use of domain names in the domain “uz””, registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
